Due to concerns of the COVID-19 Virus

The March 2021 Playmakers Tournament has been CANCELED

The Victoria Playmakers Old Timers Hockey Committee has cancelled its March 2021 tournament due to COVID-19.  Health protocols currently in place are not conducive to hosting an international tournament. These protocols include:

  • only part of the team can use the dressing room in order to maintain 6 ft spacing
  • on ice play precludes face-offs and players are to maintain a stick length separation
  • no social gatherings are permitted
  • travel is discouraged.

Victoria Playmakers is an international tournament that consistently gets teams from Japan, California, Alberta and mainland British Columbia.  It is the largest Old-Timers hockey tournament in Western Canada, with over 40 teams participating each year.  This tournament is renowned for its superb organization, participation gifts, Welcome Night and the “Hockey Knighting Ceremony” held during the Banquet event.  The spirit of fellowship on ice and the opportunity to play against far away teams make this a must do tournament to participate in. The Victoria Playmakers Old Timers Hockey Tournament is held at the end of March every year to take advantage of Victoria’s attractive setting and splendid weather during that time of year. The Victoria Playmakers Committee is optimistic that it can host a tournament in March 2022 and teams are encouraged to participate.

Further details will be promulgated in October 2021.

The Victoria Playmakers Association is a not for profit organization and its purpose is to promote Old-Timers hockey.  The Playmakers Tournament is for players 55 years and over, the pioneers of the Canadian game of hockey.  For men, the tournament is divided into age divisions of 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, 75+ and 80+.  There is one women’s division of 55+. This is a participation tournament with a format of 3 games per team.
